22-Year-Old Skateboarder Killed in L.A. Hit-and-Run Identified

Los Angeles(Thechieftainspear) – Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that took the life of a 22-year-old skateboarder in Koreatown. The tragic crash happened early in the morning on March 27 near 6th Street and Catalina Street, as the victim, later identified as Oscar Lopez, was on his way to work.

Crash Caught on Surveillance, But Suspect Still Unidentified

Video footage from a nearby business captured the moment Lopez was struck by a gray four-door sedan heading west on Catalina Street. The driver never stopped, leaving Lopez fatally injured in the roadway.

Although the grainy surveillance footage provided some details about the vehicle, investigators have yet to determine who was behind the wheel.

Scene of the Collision Shows Devastating Impact

Following the crash, authorities shut down a section of 6th Street for over two hours while gathering evidence. A white canopy covered Lopez’s remains, while a lone shoe and fragments of his skateboard lay nearby. The impact was so severe that it left broken car parts at the scene—potential clues that could help detectives identify the driver.

Family Seeks Justice for Oscar Lopez

Lopez’s family is devastated, mourning the loss of a beloved son, brother, and friend. His sister, Giselle Lopez, shared an emotional tribute on GoFundMe, where the family is raising funds for funeral expenses.

“He always put others before himself, even when he needed help the most,” she wrote. “It’s painful to see our parents’ worst nightmare come true. We will not stop fighting for justice.”

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities are working to obtain clearer surveillance footage from surrounding businesses and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
