Arrest Made After Kidnapping Attempt on Woman Jogging in Southern California

(Thechieftainspear) – A woman jogging in Ventura narrowly escaped an alleged kidnapping attempt, thanks to her quick reaction and the intervention of a passing driver, authorities reported.

The incident took place on March 25 at around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Nevada Avenue, according to the Ventura Police Department.

The jogger, who was wearing headphones at the time, was suddenly grabbed from behind in a tight hold by a man she did not see or hear approaching. Acting fast, she fought off her attacker and managed to break free, sprinting away from the scene.

A motorist who witnessed the alarming event saw the man—later identified as 28-year-old Vincent Dominguez of Ventura—attempting to restrain the jogger. The driver immediately pulled over and helped the shaken woman into her vehicle, ensuring her safety.

In addition to aiding the victim, the Good Samaritan captured several photos of Dominguez as he fled the area on foot.

The jogger was not seriously harmed during the encounter.

Authorities launched an investigation, gathering surveillance footage from the surrounding area and sharing Dominguez’s image on social media. A local resident recognized him and alerted police, leading detectives to confirm his identity.

Dominguez was later taken into custody at his home and booked into Ventura County Jail on attempted kidnapping charges.

Officials have not disclosed further details regarding his arrest.
