(Thechieftainspear) – A man was injured in a downtown Riverside shooting, leading to the arrest of a suspect identified as 26-year-old Hector Alfonso Sanchez Torres, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on March 30 near University Avenue and Main Street. Police say Torres and the victim, an adult male, were engaged in some type of altercation before the suspect allegedly opened fire from a vehicle. Torres fled the scene after the shooting.
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

The investigation was handled by multiple units, including the Gang Intelligence Unit, Narcotics Unit, and the METRO Team. Detectives were able to identify Torres as the suspect and later located him in the Home Gardens area of unincorporated Riverside County. He was taken into custody without incident and is now facing an attempted murder charge. His bail has been set at $1 million.
