Orange County Crash Injures Teens Riding Scooter in Wrong-Way Collision

(Thechieftainspear) – Two teenagers were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries following a collision with a Tesla in Orange on Tuesday afternoon, authorities reported.

The accident occurred around 2:05 p.m. near the intersection of Hewes Street and Via Lardo Avenue. According to the Orange Police Department, the teens were riding together on a single motorized scooter and traveling against the flow of traffic when they crashed into the front passenger side of an approaching Tesla Model Y.

Neither of the teens was wearing a helmet at the time of impact, officials said. They sustained severe injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they remained in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.

Aerial footage from the scene showed a portion of the residential street blocked off with police tape as investigators examined the crash site.

The driver of the Tesla remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. Police noted that impairment due to drugs or alcohol was not believed to be a factor for the driver.

Investigators have not yet released the identities or ages of the injured teens. The cause of the accident remains under review.
