Tragedy at Lake Tahoe: 7-Year-Old Girl Killed by Falling Boulder

(Thechieftainspear) – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded at a Lake Tahoe ski resort over the weekend when a 7-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by a falling boulder, according to officials.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 29 at Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, Nevada. The young girl, identified as Adelyn “Addie” Grimes of Reno, was climbing on a natural slope near the Diamond Peak Lodge when a large rock became dislodged and struck her.

Resort staff immediately called for assistance, and Diamond Peak’s Ski Patrol arrived on the scene to provide medical aid. First responders from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office also rushed to help. Despite their efforts, Grimes tragically did not survive her injuries.

In a statement, resort officials expressed their deep sorrow over the incident, sharing condolences with the girl’s family and acknowledging the emotional impact on staff.

Authorities stated that no foul play is suspected, though the sheriff’s office is conducting a formal investigation to review the circumstances of the accident.

Diamond Peak, located about 30 miles south of Reno, is a well-known destination for skiers and outdoor enthusiasts.
