Los Angeles(Thechieftainspear) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a driver who fled the scene after hitting an elderly pedestrian in El Sereno earlier this year.
The incident took place just after 1:20 a.m. on Jan. 3, at the intersection of Rosemead Avenue and Huntington Drive, according to a statement released Thursday by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Investigators say the victim, a man in his 70s, was using a marked crosswalk to cross Rosemead Avenue when he was struck by a small, light-colored sedan heading eastbound on Huntington Drive. The driver failed to stop, fleeing the scene without offering aid.
Emergency responders quickly arrived and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.

The LAPD reminded drivers of their legal obligation to stop after a collision and render assistance when needed. Pedestrians were also urged to follow traffic laws, remain alert, and use designated crosswalks when crossing busy streets.
So far, authorities have not released any images or surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle.
A $25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the hit-and-run driver.
Anyone with details about the crash is urged to contact Officer Herrera at the LAPD Central Traffic Division at 213-833-3713 or call the department’s non-emergency line at 1-877-527-3247.
