Watch: Adam Sandler Drops First Look at ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ with Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce has officially joined the highly anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore, welcoming Adam Sandler back to the beloved role of the hot-tempered golfer.

In the first-look trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, premiering on Netflix’s 2024 NFL Gameday on Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs star, who is also romantically linked to Taylor Swift, makes a cameo. In the trailer, Kelce, looking sharp with slicked-back hair, greets Sandler’s character with, “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.” His role in the sequel remains unclear.

Sandler returns to his iconic role as Happy Gilmore, the failed hockey player who became a golf sensation with his signature slapshot swing. The much-awaited sequel, set to release in 2025, also marks the return of Julie Bowen, who reprises her role as Virginia Venit, Gilmore’s love interest. In the trailer, she shares a sweet moment with Gilmore, telling him, “We’ve only just begun,” before kissing him.

The teaser is packed with nostalgic moments for Happy Gilmore fans, including Gilmore’s famous running tee shot, his golf club celebration after a successful swing, and his triumphant “Yeah, baby!” after escaping a sandtrap. Fans also get a tense faceoff between Gilmore and his longtime rival, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), next to the headstone of Gilmore’s late mentor, Chubbs Peterson (played by Carl Weathers, who passed away in February).

In the teaser, Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny, confirmed earlier in the year for an unspecified role, appears as Happy’s caddie. Sandler had teased Kelce’s cameo during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, saying, “Travis mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis.”

Sandler has also expressed interest in having comedian Drew Carey join the cast, following the success of Bob Barker’s iconic appearance in the original film. Barker’s memorable role as Gilmore’s golf partner turned rival was one of the film’s standout moments. Unfortunately, Barker passed away in 2023 at the age of 99.

Fans of the original Happy Gilmore can look forward to more hijinks, heartwarming moments, and a star-studded sequel that promises to carry on the legacy of the classic comedy.
