3 Teens, 2 Adults Killed in Santa Ana Crash; 1 Teen Critically Injured

Santa Ana(Thechieftainspear) – A tragic car crash in Santa Ana late Saturday night has left five people dead and another critically injured, with several of the victims confirmed to be teenagers, according to authorities.

The collision occurred just before midnight at the intersection of West Segerstrom Avenue and South Townsend Street. Santa Ana police responded to the scene after reports of a car slamming into a tree.

When officers arrived, they found a devastating scene — six people, all inside a single vehicle, had been involved in the crash. Police say the driver, a man, was heading west on Segerstrom at a high rate of speed when he lost control and missed a turn, causing the vehicle to crash violently.

Four people were declared dead at the site, and a fifth died later at a nearby hospital. The sixth passenger was transported in critical condition.

Officials revealed that at least two passengers were thrown from the car on impact. A second vehicle, a black sedan, sustained minor damage, but no injuries were reported among its occupants.

Santa Ana Police Officer Natalie Garcia confirmed that the group consisted of five females and one male. Of those, four were teenagers and two were adults. The individuals were reportedly family members, though their exact relationships have not yet been clarified.

“Three of the teens died at the scene,” Officer Garcia told KTLA. “One young girl is in critical but stable condition. The two adults were also pronounced dead at the crash site.”

Garcia added that investigators are examining whether alcohol or drug use may have contributed to the crash.

The accident has rattled the Santa Ana community. Rachel Cervantes, a local resident, said speeding in the area is nothing new. “We constantly hear racing and tire screeching at night. It’s frightening, and as a parent, it breaks my heart to know kids lost their lives,” she said.

Dramatic footage captured the aftermath — emergency crews working to extract the wreckage of the vehicle, now nearly unrecognizable, as it rested against a tree in the center median. Firefighters were seen using ladders to reach the mangled car.

Authorities have shut down the surrounding stretch of Segerstrom Avenue as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
