SoCal(Thechieftainspear) – A beloved East Coast bagel brand is gearing up to make a big West Coast debut. PopUp Bagels, a fast-growing company that started as a backyard operation during the pandemic, is preparing to open 35 locations throughout Southern California, according to recent media coverage.
The expansion deal, backed by investors eager to bring the brand westward, will see 25 stores open across Los Angeles and Orange counties, while another 10 are expected to land in San Diego County before the end of the year, Global Newswire reported.
Though specific addresses and opening dates haven’t been confirmed, reports indicate the upcoming locations will follow the company’s established format—compact shops around 1,100 square feet situated in high-traffic neighborhoods.

PopUp Bagels has gained a cult following for its unique concept: freshly baked bagels served whole and designed for dunking into a range of flavorful spreads. With its signature slogan, “Grip, Rip and Dip,” the menu includes options like original, scallion, and vegan cream cheeses, as well as butter.
Currently, the bagels are sold in bundles of three, six, or twelve, with a three-pack and one spread priced at $13.
Despite its relatively recent launch, PopUp Bagels has quickly earned accolades, including back-to-back “Best Bagel” wins at Brooklyn Bagelfest. On social media, the brand recently teased its arrival in the Golden State with the cheeky announcement: “California just got a whole lot seedier.”
The company’s brick-and-mortar presence is already established in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. With its upcoming California launch, PopUp Bagels is poised to introduce its signature East Coast flavors to a whole new audience.
