Mission Hills(Thechieftainspear) – A tragic hit-and-run in Mission Hills on Sunday night claimed the life of a man who was trying to help a stray dog cross the road, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Devonshire Street, near the intersection of Woodman Avenue. The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to assist the dog.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead on arrival. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle, described only as operating a light-colored sedan, fled the scene without stopping to render aid or notify authorities.
LAPD officials are now asking for the public’s help in locating the driver. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for the fatal collision.

Authorities continue to investigate as they search for the driver and urge witnesses or those with dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
