Orange County(Thechieftainspear) – A man in his 20s died from a stomach wound at a Mission Viejo apartment complex Wednesday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation, officials confirmed.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call just before 2 p.m. regarding a man with a severe abdominal injury at the Mosaic Apartments, located in the 27000 block of Camden.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found the injured man and immediately began administering life-saving aid. Paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority soon arrived but were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Sgt. Gerard McCann, deputies identified and detained a person of interest based on evidence found at the scene. No details about the person’s identity or connection to the incident have been released.

KTLA footage captured a large law enforcement presence at the complex. Investigators were seen speaking with two women, believed to be residents, while another individual was spotted sitting in the back of a sheriff’s cruiser—though it remains unclear if that individual was the person of interest.

Authorities kept the area sealed off into the evening, with police tape surrounding the scene as the investigation continued. The public was asked to avoid the vicinity of Camden and Felipe Road while deputies worked.

Officials have not released further information as the investigation remains ongoing.
