Los Angeles(Thechieftainspear) – Los Angeles police are searching for a man and woman—accompanied by a young girl—believed to be responsible for stealing a $20,000 ring from a jewelry store inside the Westfield Century City mall.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 9 at U Los Angeles Jewelry, where store surveillance cameras captured what appears to be a carefully executed distraction theft.
According to the store’s owner, the suspects entered the shop around 7 p.m. and began browsing jewelry. The woman, seen in surveillance footage standing at a display case with a store employee, appeared interested in several items. Meanwhile, the man seemed to create a distraction by engaging the employee in conversation from another angle.
As the employee looked away momentarily, the woman reached into the display case and slipped a high-value ring into her hand. She quickly concealed the item by running her hands through her hair—a move seemingly designed to avoid detection.

Shortly after, surveillance video shows the woman discreetly placing an object, believed to be the stolen ring, into her handbag while continuing to act like a customer.
In a separate part of the video, the woman is seen attempting to access another display case. The store owner said the employee noticed this and nothing was stolen during that second attempt. It’s unclear whether this occurred before or after the initial theft.
A store employee told KTLA the couple appeared to be using the young girl as a distraction. The child was reportedly running around the store, with the woman loudly telling her to stop—adding to the chaos and drawing attention away from the display case.
“The child was creating a commotion, and I was worried about her safety,” the employee said. “It definitely made it harder to focus on what the adults were doing.”
LAPD detectives are actively reviewing surveillance footage and continuing their investigation. The suspects were last seen leaving the mall on foot.
