(Thechieftainspear) – A man is dead following a shooting that stemmed from a reported verbal altercation in Long Beach on Saturday evening, authorities said.
Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the 0 block of Cedar Walk around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police immediately rendered aid until Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, the man later died from his injuries.
According to preliminary findings from homicide detectives, the victim was involved in a heated verbal exchange with one or more individuals prior to being shot. The exact sequence of events leading to the deadly encounter remains unclear, and investigators are continuing to piece together what happened.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, pending notification of his next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Detectives believe there may be more witnesses or surveillance footage that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
