Police Shoot Pursuit Suspect During Tense Standoff in Orange County

(Thechieftainspear) –  A chaotic police chase through Orange County ended in a dramatic crash and gunfire Wednesday night, following a high-speed pursuit that spanned freeways and surface streets.

Authorities have not confirmed what prompted officers from the Anaheim Police Department to initiate the pursuit or when it officially began. However, the chase involved a white pickup truck carrying both a driver and a passenger.

Throughout the pursuit, the driver displayed reckless behavior—speeding through red lights, weaving through heavy traffic, colliding with other vehicles, and eventually losing a tire. At one point, the chase moved onto the 91 Freeway in the Fullerton area before transitioning to city streets.

Multiple attempts were made by police to stop the truck using a PIT maneuver, particularly along State College Boulevard, but these initial efforts were unsuccessful. The pursuit came to a head on a bridge spanning the Santa Ana River, between Memory Lane and Garden Grove Boulevard.

There, officers successfully executed a PIT maneuver, causing the pickup to spin out, crash into a guardrail, and slam into the bridge’s center divider. Smoke began pouring from the damaged vehicle as officers quickly surrounded it.

Video from the scene showed police firing multiple rounds—believed to be non-lethal—at the truck. The passenger complied immediately, surrendering to officers without further incident.

As officers closed in on the vehicle, the driver remained inside. A tactical team approached cautiously, eventually discovering the driver apparently incapacitated inside the truck. The suspect’s condition was not immediately known, and medical assistance was called to the scene.

Sky5, which had been following the chase from above, had to leave the scene before any further updates on the suspect’s condition were provided.
