(Thechieftainspear) – Haley Joel Osment, best known for his childhood role in The Sixth Sense, was reportedly taken into custody earlier this month at Mammoth Lakes ski resort on suspicion of public intoxication, according to several news outlets.
TMZ was first to report the April 8 incident, which involved the 37-year-old actor being held by ski patrol staff until law enforcement arrived. Officers from the Mammoth Lakes Police Department responded around 2 p.m.
Authorities later confirmed that Osment was arrested not only for public intoxication but also for possession of a controlled substance, the exact nature of which has not been disclosed. Sgt. Jason Heilman confirmed the arrest to People magazine, and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office stated the case is now in the hands of the District Attorney, who will determine if charges will be filed.

The arrest comes during a difficult time for the actor, who reportedly lost his home in Altadena during the recent Southern California wildfires. According to media reports, Osment has been facing issues with his insurance provider, who allegedly rejected his claim for a new home.
This isn’t Osment’s first run-in with the law. In 2006, he was involved in a single-car crash while under the influence of alcohol. He later pleaded no contest to DUI and marijuana possession, receiving a sentence that included a fine, rehab, and probation.
In another public incident in 2018, Osment was involved in a heated dispute with airline staff at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday, which required police intervention, as reported by People.
Despite personal challenges over the years, Osment has maintained a steady acting career, appearing in projects like Entourage, Teachers, and Amazon’s The Boys .
