(Thechieftainspear) – A tragic crash involving multiple vehicles in downtown Riverside on Wednesday evening resulted in one fatality and six people hospitalized, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Market Street, between 5th Street and Mission Inn Avenue. According to the Press-Enterprise, police believe a driver struck several occupied vehicles before attempting to leave the scene.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and discovered one individual deceased at the site of the crash. Six others sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The driver believed to be responsible was taken into custody, though their identity has not been made public. Officials said the investigation into what caused the collision is ongoing.
As police continued their work at the scene, surrounding streets were temporarily shut down to facilitate cleanup and ensure safety. No additional details have been released at this time.
