(Thechieftainspear) – In a major blow to the illegal cannabis industry, California authorities confiscated more than $316 million worth of unlicensed marijuana products during a sweeping enforcement campaign conducted in the first quarter of 2025.
The multi-agency crackdown spanned from January 1 through March 31 and involved coordinated efforts from the Governor’s Unified Cannabis Enforcement Task Force (UCETF), the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), and the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC).
In total, enforcement teams:

Uprooted 212,681 illegal cannabis plants

Confiscated 120,307 pounds of processed cannabis

Seized $474,462 in cash

Recovered 35 firearms
-
Executed 99 search warrants

Arrested 29 individuals
Nathaniel Arnold, Chief of CDFW’s Law Enforcement Division, commended the task force’s progress, stating, “This task force continues to make impressive progress disrupting illegal cannabis operators and their supply chain.”

Bill Jones, DCC’s Law Enforcement Division Chief, emphasized the importance of the operation: “We remain unwavering in our aggressive, strategic approach to reducing illicit cannabis activity. By swiftly dismantling illegal operations, we are delivering on our commitment to protect California’s communities and the legitimate industry.”
Governor Gavin Newsom has previously affirmed the state’s dedication to stamping out illegal cannabis activities. “By shutting down illegal grow sites and applying serious consequences to offenders, we are working to curtail the criminal organizations that are undercutting the regulated cannabis market in California,” Newsom stated.
