(Thechieftainspear) – Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl,” passed away on February 26 at the age of 39 in her New York City apartment. After nearly two months of uncertainty, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death.
According to official reports, Trachtenberg’s death was due to complications from diabetes mellitus, a chronic condition that affects how the body regulates blood glucose levels. The manner of her death was ruled natural.
Diabetes mellitus is classified into several types, including type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes, among others. The disease is characterized by difficulties in managing blood sugar, which can lead to severe complications if left uncontrolled.
The actress was found unconscious at her Manhattan apartment around 8 a.m. on February 26 and was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, there was speculation regarding the cause of her death, as reports indicated her family had initially requested no autopsy. As a result, the initial ruling was “undetermined.”

Since her passing, several sources have suggested that Trachtenberg had undergone a liver transplant in the past and that complications related to this procedure may have contributed to her death. There were also reports from friends who mentioned that the actress had been struggling emotionally in the months leading up to her passing.
Trachtenberg’s acting career began at a young age, with early appearances in commercials and television shows like Nickelodeon’s “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and the soap opera “All My Children.” She gained widespread recognition in the late 1990s with her role in the film “Harriet the Spy” and went on to become a beloved figure in the 2000s with notable roles in two major TV series—Dawn Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and Georgina Sparks in “Gossip Girl.”
