Authorities have launched a death investigation after a woman’s body was found in the Los Angeles River on Friday morning.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a call around 7:42 a.m. reporting a body in the water near Riverside Drive and the 5 Freeway.
Emergency crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the area and successfully retrieved the body from the river.

At this time, it remains unknown how long the woman had been in the water or the circumstances surrounding her death. Officials have not released her identity or any other details as the investigation remains ongoing.
