Impaired Driver Strikes and Kills Pedestrian in Torrance Hit-and-Run

(Thechieftainspear) –New details have emerged regarding a tragic hit-and-run crash in Torrance that has been described by authorities as “devastating.”

The incident took place at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Saturday evening, at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Ocean Avenue, according to the Torrance Police Department. The collision involved four vehicles and a pedestrian.

According to the police report, the pedestrian fell into the lanes of Pacific Coast Highway after being struck by one of the vehicles. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene, but the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries before they could be transported to the hospital.

KTLA footage from the scene showed personal items, including a suitcase and clothing, left behind on the sidewalk in front of a nearby McDonald’s. A large police presence was seen blocking off parts of the roadway, with traffic being diverted as authorities began their investigation.

At this time, the identity of the pedestrian has not been released by the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Traffic on Pacific Coast Highway was significantly disrupted due to the crash, and the investigation revealed that one of the involved drivers was impaired at the time of the incident. That individual was arrested, though their identity has not been made public.

Torrance police emphasized the ongoing dangers of impaired driving in their statement. “This arrest highlights the serious risks associated with driving under the influence and the devastating consequences it can have on innocent lives,” they said. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.”
