(Thechieftainspear) – Public health officials are urging residents to steer clear of the ocean at several Los Angeles County beaches due to elevated levels of bacteria that surpass state safety standards.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health says the warnings are especially common after rainstorms, as runoff and drainage from urban areas can pollute coastal waters. In addition to bacteria, officials are also advising beachgoers to avoid areas with fire debris or damaged stormwater systems.
