West L.A. Bakery Hit in Costly and Destructive Burglary

(Thechieftainspear) – Authorities are on the lookout for four suspects connected to an early morning burglary at a bakery in West Los Angeles on Thursday.

The break-in occurred around 2:30 a.m. at Bibi’s Bakery & Cafe, located at 8928 West Pico Boulevard in the Pico-Robertson area. Surveillance video captured the suspects—dressed in hooded clothing—arriving in a black sedan before one of them used a hammer to smash through the bakery’s front glass door.

Once inside, the group attempted to break into both a cash register and a safe using tools, but failed to access either, according to the bakery’s owner, Dan Messinger.

“They couldn’t get into the safe or the register, so they ended up just grabbing the tip jar,” said Messinger. “They probably made off with about $50.”

The suspects fled the scene in their vehicle before officers from the Los Angeles Police Department could arrive.

Employees arriving at work around the same time as the burglary noticed the alarm blaring and saw the damaged entrance. They quickly contacted Messinger to report the situation.

Despite the broken door and disruption to his business, Messinger said he’s thankful the incident didn’t escalate further.

“No one was hurt, and that’s what matters most,” he said. “The outpouring of support from our customers and neighbors has really helped us get through today.”

Anyone with details about the burglary is urged to contact the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
