(Thechieftainspear) – A violent shooting at a family-friendly event in Yorba Linda left three people, including the gunman, hospitalized Sunday afternoon, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at Canyon RV Park, part of Featherly Regional Park, located near Gypsum Canyon Road and the 91 Freeway. Authorities say the altercation likely involved people who knew each other, stemming from an earlier dispute that escalated later in the day.
According to sheriff’s officials, the suspect returned to the park after the confrontation, attempted to strike a victim with his vehicle, and then exited the car to open fire. In a shocking twist, the gunman then turned the weapon on himself.
Emergency responders from the Orange County Fire Authority rushed the three injured individuals, including the suspect, to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been disclosed. Additionally, a fourth person sustained minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle, though they were treated at the scene.
KTLA’s footage from the scene shows a heavy law enforcement presence at the park, with a portion of the area cordoned off by yellow crime scene tape.

Park visitor Andrea Montano, who had traveled from Lake Elsinore to attend a Volkswagen enthusiasts’ event, described the scene as chaotic and surreal. She explained that she and her family had never witnessed anything like this in their years of attending the park’s events.
While walking her children to a nearby rope course where a 9-year-old’s birthday party was taking place, Montano heard gunshots. She said there were about 25 to 30 children playing in the area at the time. Panic soon ensued as people screamed for cover, prompting Montano to rush her daughter to their RV for safety.
“It was terrifying. I told my daughter to get inside the RV, and we just waited, not knowing what was going to happen next,” Montano recalled.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 714-647-7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or online at www.occrimestoppers.org.
