California – A Bay Area woman has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for fatally shooting her next-door neighbor in what authorities described as a deadly altercation rooted in a love triangle.
On December 27, 2022, around 2 p.m., Antioch police responded to a report of a confrontation between two women on the 2300 block of Mandarin Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 37-year-old Serico Justice had shot her neighbor, 31-year-old Hannisha Willis, in the head with a handgun. Willis was transported to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators later uncovered that the two women were involved with the same man, who also lived on Mandarin Way. According to the East Bay Times, the man would secretly visit both Justice and Willis, creating tension between the neighbors.
Justice, who was initially charged with felony murder, claimed the shooting was accidental, alleging that her gun discharged during a struggle after Willis punched her. However, she eventually pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, a reduced charge.
Now 39 years old, Justice was sentenced by a Contra Costa County judge and will be eligible for parole in May 2037. She is currently serving her sentence at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla.
