Final chance to get payments from $152.2m canned tuna settlement – and no proof is needed to score the cash

Star Kits – Americans have only a few days left to claim compensation from a $152 million settlement involving Star Kist, DWI, and Lion Capital. The settlement stems from allegations that these companies conspired with others to inflate the price of canned tuna products.

Settlement Background

The lawsuit accused Star Kist and other tuna producers of overcharging consumers by fixing and stabilizing the price of canned tuna. While the companies deny any wrongdoing, they agreed to settle the case.

Consumers who indirectly purchased packaged tuna in cans or pouches smaller than 40 ounces from June 1, 2011, to July 1, 2015, may be eligible for compensation.

Eligibility Requirements

To file a claim, consumers must reside in one of the following states or territories:

  • Arizona, Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Guam, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin

How to File

Eligible individuals can submit claims online or by mail. The deadline to file a claim is December 31, 2024.

Consumers who previously filed a valid claim do not need to submit another. However, those who fail to act by the deadline forfeit their right to sue or continue legal action against Star Kist or Lion Capital for this case.

The objection period for the settlement ended on November 8, 2024, but objectors are still eligible to file claims.
