Robert O’Brien Proposes Merging Greenland with Alaska if Denmark Won’t Defend the Island

United States – Former National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, who served under the Trump administration, outlined a provocative scenario during a Fox News appearance in which President-elect Donald Trump could potentially compel Denmark to sell Greenland to the United States.

On “Sunday Morning Futures,” guest host Jason Chaffetz asked O’Brien about Trump’s past remarks regarding foreign policy, including comments about acquiring Greenland, which is not for sale. O’Brien compared Trump to former President Ronald Reagan, emphasizing that Trump is looking toward future global conflicts and strategic advantages.

O’Brien argued that Greenland is of significant strategic value and suggested that Denmark, as the ruling power, could take responsibility for defending the island. However, if Denmark refused to fund its defense, O’Brien proposed that Greenland could be integrated into the U.S. as part of Alaska.

He went on to say that if Denmark was unwilling to pay for Greenland’s defense, the U.S. could step in and offer to handle it, with the possibility of negotiating a deal with Denmark.
