Washington – For years, residents of Tri-Cities, Washington, have held on to the hope that Trader Joe’s would finally open a store in the region. Unfortunately, 2025 isn’t the year, as the beloved grocery chain has recently announced two new locations in Washington, but neither is in the Tri-Cities.
Trader Joe’s, known for its affordable gourmet foods and unique private-label products, will soon be opening new stores in Seattle (8726 Greenwood Ave.) and Bellingham (4255 Meridian St., Suite 200). While these additions will surely bring joy to those in the Seattle and Bellingham areas, it’s a disappointment to Tri-Citians, who continue to wait for the chance to shop at the quirky store closer to home.
The lack of a Trader Joe’s in Tri-Cities has long been a frustration for local residents. With a growing population and a booming economy, many believe the area could easily support one of the chain’s iconic stores. Despite continued rumors, grassroots efforts, and persistent campaigning urging Trader Joe’s to consider Tri-Cities, the dream remains elusive.
For now, locals will have to make the drive to Spokane or the west side of Washington to get their hands on favorites like Two-Buck Chuck, Everything But The Bagel seasoning, and Cookie Butter. While hopes are high for the future, Tri-Citians will have to be patient and keep campaigning, hoping that 2025 might finally bring the news they’ve been waiting for.
