Broadway and Pike Shooting Victim Identified as Jonny Adamow

King County – The victim of the fatal shooting on December 31st at the intersection of Broadway and Pike has been identified as Jonny Adamow, 29. According to the King County Medical Examiner, Adamow died from a gunshot wound to the chest in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 31.

Known for his artistry and vibrant presence, Adamow is being remembered fondly by family and friends. Initial reports suggest that he was an unintended victim in a targeted attack. Surveillance footage captured from the city’s traffic camera system shows the suspect hiding behind a utility pole, waiting for the right moment. As Adamow walks eastbound on Pike, he inadvertently steps between the gunman and a potential target crossing northbound. The suspect then opened fire, hitting Adamow in the chest before fleeing the scene toward the Neighbours alley. The man who may have been the intended target also ran off.

Seattle Police are seeking help from the public to locate the shooter. Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 911 or the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

The tragic incident occurred just as the city was preparing for New Year’s Eve celebrations, which Mayor Bruce Harrell called “heartbreaking and unacceptable.” In his statement, Harrell emphasized the Seattle Police Department’s ongoing efforts to curb the violence, noting the seizure of 5,500 guns over the past three years as part of an initiative aimed at reducing shootings and homicides.

Adamow’s death marks the 13th homicide under investigation in Seattle’s East Precinct, covering Capitol Hill and the Central District, in 2024.
