Some Walgreens customers who purchased prescription drugs may qualify for a share of a proposed $100 million class-action settlement.
The lawsuit accuses Walgreens of overcharging insured customers for generic drugs compared to those enrolled in the now-discontinued Walgreens Prescription Savings Club (PSC). While Walgreens denies any wrongdoing, it agreed to the settlement in November 2024, pending final court approval.
Settlement Details
Emails sent to potential class members in January stated: “If you purchased or paid for a prescription drug with insurance at Walgreens, a class action settlement could affect you.”
The complaint alleges that Walgreens charged higher prices to insured customers for generic drugs than to PSC members. The PSC, which ended on August 31, 2024, provided discounts on thousands of drugs for an annual $20 fee. Generic drugs were substituted for brand-name medications when available.

According to court filings and attorneys for the plaintiffs, official settlement information is available at savingsclubsettlement.com. Emails regarding the settlement will come from info@savingsclubsettlement.com.
A Walgreens spokesperson commented on the case:
“We admit no liability and believe these claims never had any merit. We launched the Prescription Savings Club more than 15 years ago to provide equitable access to lower-cost medications for the uninsured and underinsured. This resolution allows us to focus on our turnaround strategy that will benefit our patients, customers, team members, and shareholders.”
Eligibility and Claim Submission
To qualify for a payment, customers must have purchased prescription drugs at Walgreens using insurance benefits between January 1, 2007, and November 18, 2024.
The settlement amount per person will vary depending on how much they spent on prescriptions and the number of claims submitted. Claims must be submitted by April 17, 2025.
Payment Timeline
The next court hearing regarding the settlement is scheduled for September 10, 2025. Payments will likely be issued after the settlement receives final approval.
