Tennessee is currently under a State of Emergency as the state braces for a winter storm. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has declared a Level Four State of Emergency, which is the lowest alert level. This emergency is separate from the one issued for the impact of Hurricane Helene.

As part of the response, TEMA is monitoring the situation and ensuring that supplies are strategically placed where they will be most needed. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is working to prepare the roads, but heavy snow is expected to severely impact travel throughout the state. Authorities are urging residents to stay off the roads if possible.
To assist those affected by the storm, warming centers have been set up across Tennessee. In an unprecedented move, all 95 Tennessee county school districts are closed today due to the storm’s expected impact.
