Juniors should be granted off campus lunch

At Bellevue East High School, seniors are allowed to eat off campus for lunch if they meet the special requirements to do so. For example,  having a good attendance in your classes. This occurs during the period they have lunch in; they can go out to eat, but have to be back to class before it starts up again. This gives seniors more freedom than the lower grade levels because they can not leave school unless they are called out by someone like, a family member or family friend. Along with off-campus lunch, seniors also allowed to have early out and/or late start. There are very few juniors who already have late start or early out because they are a part of a program by Metro or are at the Frank Kumor Career Center.

Along with that there are many other things that are available for both juniors and seniors like being able to eat in the senior commons and going to prom. As well as this there are juniors who can also drive and can park in the senior parking with the seniors. Plus there are students, not just juniors, that get called out during lunch so they don’t have to eat lunch in the cafeteria or senior commons without getting in trouble.

If both senior and juniors were allowed to have off campus lunch there would be less students in the senior commons to keep track of. This would make it easier to monitor during lunch since there are not as many students in the building. This also makes it easier to make sure sophomores or freshmen do not eat in the senior commons, where they are not allowed to be during lunch.

Juniors should be allowed to off-campus lunch if they met the same requirements that the seniors have to get to it as well. Of course they have to go by the same rules that the seniors have to, like getting to class back on time, to be able to keep this privilege. If this cannot be met there will still be a lot of juniors that are always getting called out for lunch.
