STUDIO CITY, CA – Los Angeles police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a 40-year-old man following a verbal argument at a Metro station parking lot late Sunday morning.
Argument Escalates To Deadly Violence
The shooting occurred around 11:20 a.m. at the Universal/Studio City Station Park and Ride lot, located in the 10800 block of Ventura Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), a verbal dispute between two men quickly turned violent. Arriving officers found the 40-year-old victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
While the victim’s name has not been released pending family notification, investigators believe he was experiencing homelessness.
Suspect Armed With “Long Gun”
Witnesses at the scene informed law enforcement that the suspect utilized a “long gun,” leading detectives to believe a rifle or a shotgun was used in the attack.
The gunman fled the area immediately after the shooting and remains outstanding. LAPD has released the following initial description:
- Age: Approximately 30 years old
- Hair: Dreadlocks

Homicide detectives remain on the scene reviewing nearby surveillance footage and interviewing commuters. The parking lot, located just southwest of the 101 Freeway, is a major transit hub for the area, and police are urging anyone who saw the confrontation to come forward.
