HOUSTON, Texas — Louis Erebia did what any father would do.
When his son called and said he had been carjacked at gunpoint, Erebia didn’t wait. He got in his car, tracked down the stolen vehicle, and went after the man who had threatened his child.
He never came home.
A Father Springs Into Action
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Erebia’s son was robbed at gunpoint and his car was taken.
The son called his father for help.
Erebia was able to locate the stolen vehicle and pursued the suspect. After a short chase and a crash, the suspect opened fire.
Louis Erebia was shot and killed.
A passenger in Erebia’s vehicle was also shot and remains hospitalized.
“This is a sad world that we’re in, and Louis wasn’t going to take these things laying down. When his son called, he sprung into action, as I would,” said community victim advocate April Aguirre.
“Louis Was Everything to Everyone”
Friends and family gathered to hold photos and share memories of the man they lost.
His sister-in-law, Amber Burrough, described Erebia as deeply devoted — to his wife, his five children, and everyone around him.
“Louis was everything to everyone,” Burrough said. “We need justice for what happened to Louis. Louis is a good man.”
Erebia was remembered not just as a father, but as someone who showed up — for his family, his community, and anyone who needed him.
The Man Charged Had Already Been in the System
London Hogan has been arrested and charged with Erebia’s murder.
But Erebia’s family says Hogan should never have been free to begin with.
Court records show that in March 2024, Hogan was sentenced to five years of probation for choking his girlfriend. He was allowed to remain free as long as he stayed out of trouble.
He didn’t.
While on probation, Hogan was arrested in Louisiana for drug possession — accused of planning to distribute drugs inside a correctional facility.
Rather than revoking his probation and sending him to serve out his original five-year sentence, Judge Te’iva Bell handed Hogan just 30 days in jail.
Six months later, he is charged with murder.
Family Demands Accountability
“This should have never happened. Let’s be clear, look at the man’s rap sheet,” Burrough said.
The family — which includes first responders — says they followed the rules, trusted the system, and the system let them down at every turn.
“We demand justice. We are a family of first responders, we are law-abiding citizens, and we want the law to serve us. We don’t want it to fail again,” Burrough said.
Hogan was denied bail on Monday. He denies stealing Erebia’s son’s vehicle.
Louis Erebia leaves behind a wife and five children.
A father went out to protect his son and paid for it with his life. Now his family is left asking how a man with his record was ever allowed to be back on the street.
