L.A. County (Thechieftainspear) – Law enforcement officials are looking into yet another case of a hidden security camera being found on private property in Southern California.
The latest discovery occurred last week in San Marino when a gardener trimming hedges in a yard along the 2500 block of Canterbury Road spotted a camouflaged recording device. The San Marino Police Department, in its weekly activity report, confirmed that officers collected the camera and have launched an investigation. However, no further details have been released.
Rising Trend of Hidden Camera Incidents
This marks at least the fourth incident in March involving hidden surveillance devices. Just days earlier, police recovered a similar camera following a burglary in the West Hills area of Los Angeles. Other recent discoveries have taken place outside homes in Encino and Chino Hills.
Investigators believe these cameras are often planted by criminals involved in home invasion burglaries. The devices allow them to monitor homeowners’ routines and identify the best times to strike.

Authorities Warn Homeowners to Stay Vigilant
Officials are urging residents to inspect their properties for suspicious recording devices, which are often disguised and concealed within trees, shrubs, or other hard-to-spot locations. These cameras typically include a recording unit, a power source, and a memory card to store footage.
If a hidden camera is found, authorities advise homeowners not to touch it and to immediately report the discovery so investigators can collect evidence.
Prior Arrests Linked to Burglary Rings
Last year, Glendale police arrested four Colombian nationals suspected of using hidden cameras as part of a sophisticated “burglary tourism” operation. A separate group of three Colombian nationals was also taken into custody in Temecula for allegedly engaging in a similar scheme.
Authorities continue to investigate these incidents as concerns grow over the increasing use of covert surveillance devices by criminal networks.
