He Was Passed Out With Drugs on the Seat — Then Led Police on a 130 MPH Chase and Vanished for 19 Hours

What started as a routine welfare check in Itasca, Illinois, spiraled into one of the most intense manhunts the area has seen in years — lasting nearly 19 straight hours and pulling in multiple law enforcement agencies before it was finally over.

Around 2 p.m. Monday, Itasca officers approached a vehicle that was running with a driver slumped unconscious inside. Narcotics were sitting in plain view on the passenger seat. Officers knocked on the window repeatedly until the driver woke up — and that’s when everything went sideways.

Instead of cooperating, the driver hit the gas and took off. Officers gave chase immediately. Within minutes, the pursuit turned dangerous as the suspect pushed speeds to nearly 130 mph — more than double the speed limit on most roads.

The wild ride came to an end when the vehicle violently crashed on Highway 81. But the suspect wasn’t done. He jumped out of the wreckage and disappeared on foot into the surrounding area, leaving officers scrambling.

“Multiple people called in after spotting the suspect” — as the manhunt stretched through the night and into the next morning.

What followed was an all-out search operation. K-9 units picked up the trail. Drones swept the area from above. A helicopter circled overhead. Tips flooded in from local residents who had spotted the suspect moving through the area. Still, he managed to stay hidden — for hours.

Nearly 19 hours after the initial chase began, the suspect was found hiding inside a cornfield and taken into custody without further incident. The long manhunt was finally over.

What This Means: Multiple law enforcement agencies worked through the night to track down a single suspect — a reminder of how dangerous high-speed fleeing can be, not just for officers but for every driver and pedestrian on those roads. The suspect now faces charges connected to the narcotics found at the scene, the high-speed chase, and the foot pursuit.

He thought a cornfield could hide him from drones, dogs, and a helicopter. He was wrong.
