Caught on Camera: Two Thieves Snapped a Locked Scooter Right Outside a Target — Atlanta Police Are Now Hunting Them Down

They didn’t sneak around. They didn’t wait for darkness. In broad evening view of shoppers and security cameras, two suspects walked up to a locked scooter outside one of Atlanta’s busiest retail spots — and simply took it.

The theft happened at approximately 7:10 p.m. last Saturday on 18th St. NW, directly outside the Target store located at the corner of 18th St. NW and 18th Street NW. The scooter was secured with a lock — a detail that didn’t slow the suspects down even slightly.

What the thieves didn’t count on was the camera. Atlanta Police Department’s Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit has since released both photo and video evidence capturing the two suspects in the act — and now investigators are asking the public to help put names to those faces.

“Investigators released a photo and video of the suspects in an effort to identify them.” — Atlanta Police Department

As of now, police have not confirmed the identities, names, or descriptions of either suspect. The owner of the stolen scooter has also not been publicly named, and the total value of the stolen property has not yet been officially estimated.

What Happens Next: The case is being actively investigated by the APD’s Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit, a specialized team that handles exactly these kinds of brazen property crimes. With video evidence already in hand, an identification could come at any moment — and that’s where the public comes in.

Anyone with information is urged to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta. Tipsters are not required to give their name or any personal information — and can still qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 if the tip leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspects.

Two people thought they could walk away clean. The camera says otherwise — and Atlanta is watching.
