PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia police officer was injured Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle while directing traffic near the stadium district following a Phillies game.
The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Broad Street and Packer Avenue, where officers were helping manage heavy postgame traffic.
Authorities said the officer was struck by a passing vehicle and suffered an injury to the leg. Emergency responders transported the officer to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injury was not reported to be life-threatening.
According to police, the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Traffic accidents involving officers directing vehicles can create dangerous situations, especially in areas experiencing large crowds and increased congestion after major sporting events.
