OHIO — An 18-year-old high school student is fighting for her life — and preparing to bring a new one into the world — after being shot and paralyzed during a robbery over the weekend.
Angel and her boyfriend drove to meet someone they had connected with on Snapchat. What happened next changed everything.
A Robbery That Turned Violent in Seconds
When the couple arrived at the meetup location, a man dressed in all black approached their car.
He pressed a gun to Angel’s boyfriend’s head and demanded money.
When the boyfriend tried to wrestle the weapon away, the man pulled the trigger.
The bullet struck Angel in the left arm, tore through her side, and lodged in her chest — just above her unborn baby.
“The guy pulls the trigger, and it hits my daughter in the left arm and goes through her side,” her mother said. “Right above the baby, by the grace of God, misses the baby, but lodges in her chest.”

Angel was nearly six months pregnant at the time of the shooting.
The damage to her body was devastating.
Doctors confirmed a spinal fracture at the 12th vertebra. She is currently paralyzed and has limited use of her right arm.
“She has a spinal fracture at the 12th vertebra, so she’s currently paralyzed. She can’t really use her right arm and she’s got a baby on the way,” her mother said.
The trauma of the shooting also sent Angel into early labor at just 26 weeks.
A Mother Watching Her Daughter Suffer
For Angel’s mother, the hardest part is feeling helpless.
Her daughter is fighting to survive while simultaneously preparing to give birth — two battles no teenager should ever face at once.
“It’s the worst feeling in the world to see your kid suffering and not being able to do anything about it,” she said.
Angel’s family now faces the reality of a young woman who may never be able to physically care for her newborn on her own — at least not without significant recovery and support.
No Arrests Yet — Family Seeks Help
Authorities have confirmed there have been no arrests in the case so far.
The investigation is ongoing.
In the meantime, Angel’s loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses and support the family through what will be a long and difficult road ahead.
Her story is a painful reminder of the dangers that can come with meeting strangers online — and of a young mother’s incredible will to survive.
