Colton (Thechieftainspear) – A violent altercation at Jehue Middle School in Colton has ignited widespread public concern after a video of the incident surfaced online, showing a female student being knocked unconscious. The footage has led to calls for a deeper investigation and raised concerns about potential racial bias in handling the situation.
The fight occurred Monday morning at the school, located at 1500 N. Eucalyptus Ave. The video shows a physical struggle between a larger male student and a smaller female student. At one point, the girl grabs a laptop and swings it at the boy’s head. In response, he forcefully slams her head into a desk, causing her to lose consciousness.
According to the Colton Police Department, both students are 14 years old and were cited before being released to their parents. However, community members and advocacy groups believe more action is needed. The California Legislative Black Caucus condemned the attack, calling for accountability and a thorough investigation. They also highlighted the need for ensuring safety and protection for Black female students.

Despite the outrage, authorities suggest the fight was not racially motivated. Police reports indicate that before the recorded video, the girl allegedly struck the boy multiple times with a metal water bottle. As a result, she was cited for felony assault with a deadly weapon, while the boy was charged with misdemeanor battery for an earlier unrelated incident involving a water pistol.
Both students were suspended and could face expulsion, but many are questioning whether the school and district did enough to prevent and de-escalate the situation. Officials confirmed that a substitute teacher was supervising the class at the time, and school safety officers were called in response to the incident.
The Rialto Unified School District released a statement condemning the violence and emphasizing that hate speech and physical altercations are not tolerated on its campuses. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the altercation .
