Man Shot After Bingo Win: Two Suspects Still Loose in East Midland, Texas

A 56-year-old man was shot in East Midland, Texas, late Wednesday night — just steps from his own front door — after winning money at a local bingo game.

It happened around 9:36 p.m. on the 1900 block of Morgan Way, when the victim had just gotten out of a car after a night at the VFW hall on East Taylor Avenue. He had played bingo, won some cash, and was walking toward his front door when two young men suddenly approached him.

What happened next left the neighborhood shaken.

The two suspects demanded the bag he was carrying — the one with his winnings inside. When they couldn’t get it, they didn’t walk away. They fired two shots. One bullet struck the man in his right lower thigh. Police found a .22-caliber casing and a .223-caliber casing at the scene.

The victim was rushed to a nearby facility for treatment. His condition has not been publicly released, but he was conscious and able to speak with investigators at the scene.

Both suspects fled westbound on Morgan Way and jumped into a light-colored sedan or SUV before disappearing into the night. One was wearing a black hoodie, the other a gray hoodie. No names or ages have been released.

The Midland Police Department is actively investigating the case. As of now, no arrests have been made and the two suspects remain at large.
