Black Mercedes SUV Hit by Gunfire on I-5 in Seattle, State Patrol Seeking Witnesses

SEATTLE — Washington State Patrol investigators are searching for answers after a vehicle was struck by gunfire during an early-morning incident on Interstate 5 in Seattle.

According to authorities, the shooting happened at approximately 2:50 a.m. Tuesday along southbound I-5 near the Seattle Convention Center.

The driver of a black Mercedes SUV reported hearing a loud bang and feeling something hit the vehicle while traveling through the area. After pulling over and checking the SUV, the driver discovered that a bullet had struck the right rear door.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the driver was able to safely continue after contacting law enforcement.

Investigators say the driver did not see where the shot came from and was unable to provide information about any suspicious vehicles nearby at the time of the incident.

State Patrol officials are now asking anyone who may have been driving through the area or witnessed unusual activity around the time of the shooting to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from drivers who may have noticed speeding vehicles, suspicious behavior, or captured the incident on dashcam footage.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine who was responsible and what led to the shooting.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Washington State Patrol investigators.
