21-Year-Old Man Sought in Connection With Fatal Shooting of Parkland Teen

Authorities are searching for a 21-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Parkland teenager last month.

According to investigators, Brandon Torres-Mesa is wanted in relation to the death of 17-year-old Braylon Diaz, who was killed on May 24. Detectives describe Torres-Mesa as approximately 6 feet tall and weighing between 200 and 300 pounds. Officials believe he may be armed and are urging anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.

The shooting occurred in the 10200 block of Sheridan Avenue South. Deputies responded to reports of a teenage boy lying in the roadway and attempted life-saving measures upon arrival. Despite those efforts, Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Diaz had been walking with his girlfriend when a vehicle approached. Someone inside the vehicle reportedly called him over before the encounter turned deadly.

Two suspects have already been taken into custody in connection with the case. A 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested on Sunday night. Detectives believe the pair were inside the vehicle involved in the incident.

Authorities allege Diaz was robbed of his jewelry before being shot. Investigators have indicated that the attack appears to have been random.

The investigation remains active, and detectives say they are still searching for at least two additional individuals who may have been involved.

Anyone with information about the case or who may have surveillance footage from the area is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
