Driver Hits Two Riders, Then Vanishes — One Dead, One Fighting for Life in Aurora

A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized after a violent late-night crash in Aurora — and the driver who hit them walked away without a scratch, then disappeared into the night.

It happened just before midnight on Saturday near East Iliff Avenue and South Idalia Street, on the edge of the Kingsborough and Horseshoe Park neighborhoods. Two people were riding a motorcycle heading west on Iliff when a Honda CR-V turning left onto South Idalia slammed into them.

The impact was devastating. Both riders were thrown and rushed to the hospital by paramedics. The man did not survive. His identity is being withheld pending notification by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. As of Sunday morning, the woman remained hospitalized.

The Driver? Gone.

Instead of stopping to help, the Honda driver fled. Officers searching the area found the car abandoned just a short distance from the crash — empty, no driver in sight.

As of Sunday, no suspects had been publicly identified or arrested. Police said speed may have been a factor in the collision.

One More Twist

The motorcycle the couple was riding? It had been reported stolen before the crash. That detail adds another layer to what investigators are now piecing together — a stolen bike, a hit-and-run driver, and two lives upended in seconds.

What Happens Next

The crash remains under active investigation. Police are working to identify the driver of the Honda and determine the full sequence of events. Authorities have not yet released additional details about potential charges.

Anyone with information about this crash is encouraged to contact Aurora Police.

This is a developing story. Details may be updated as the investigation continues.
