Tucson, Arizona is waking up on edge Wednesday morning as a wanted woman — accused of kidnapping and assaulting a female victim in broad daylight — remains on the run with no arrest in sight.
Coral Michelle Smith, 40, is wanted by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in connection with a May 29 attack near La Cholla Boulevard and River Road. Investigators say she abducted and assaulted an unnamed woman near a quiet dirt road lined with small homes and a horse barn — a neighborhood where nobody expected something like this to happen.
The victim has since been located and is safe. Smith, however, is not.
“Anyone who sees her — call 911 immediately. Do not approach. Do not attempt to detain her yourself.” — Pima County Sheriff’s Department
This is not a first-time offender. Court records reveal Smith has been accused of kidnapping, assault, and disorderly conduct multiple times. She was convicted of residential robbery in a 2020 case — and the victim in that crime was under 15 years old. She has served multiple stints in prison and operates under several aliases, including “Corral Albright” and the unusual alias “Under the Sea Smith.”
If you see her, here’s what she looks like: Smith stands around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 136 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her body is marked with distinctive tattoos — a smiley face and heart on her right ankle, a rose with flames on her right foot, and the words “love, life, family” on her left leg.
Authorities also moved quickly to clear up one major question on everyone’s mind: Smith has no connection to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, whose suspected abduction from her home — just 6.8 miles away — has gripped the city for months. The sheriff’s department confirmed to Fox News Digital: “This is not connected to the Guthrie investigation.”
The Guthrie case remains unsolved. A combined reward of more than $1.2 million is being offered for information leading to answers in her February 1 disappearance. The family is asking anyone with tips to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI.
What You Should Do: If you spot Coral Michelle Smith anywhere in the Tucson area, do not engage. Call 911 immediately. To report anonymously, contact the 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463. A $1,000 reward is available for information directly leading to her arrest.
Two cases. Two missing or endangered women. One city holding its breath — and one very dangerous suspect still walking free.
