Aman pulled out a gun, demanded money from a gas station employee, and tried to run — but police caught him just blocks away. That is exactly what happened Thursday morning at a Speedway on Colerain Avenue in Colerain Township, leaving the local community shaken.
Officers from the Colerain Township Police Department were first sent to the 9200 block of Colerain Avenue for a general trouble call. But before they even arrived, the situation had escalated — dispatch upgraded it to an armed robbery in progress.
According to police, 22-year-old Darrian Hall-Mackey walked into the Speedway, showed a firearm to an employee, and demanded cash. He then ran from the store, heading toward Compton Road on foot.
Officers quickly spotted him fleeing and gave chase. Hall-Mackey was taken into custody on Donnybrook Lane — just a short distance from where it all started. A firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered at the scene.
Charges filed against Darrian Hall-Mackey, 22:
Aggravated Robbery — 1st Degree Felony
Obstructing Official Business — 5th Degree Felony
He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
This incident is a reminder that even routine stops — like a trip to the gas station — can turn dangerous in seconds. Residents near Colerain Avenue are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to local police immediately.
