The road was dry. The sky was clear. There was no other vehicle involved. And yet, on a quiet Saturday afternoon in northwest Arkansas, a motorcycle ride ended in tragedy — and a Tontitown family is now grieving two people at once.
Arkansas State Police have confirmed that Bryce McClain, 49, and Megan McClain, 40, both of Tontitown, were killed after the motorcycle they were riding lost control and struck a cable barrier along eastbound U.S. Highway 412, near Littrell Road.
The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, close to the Washington-Benton County line — a stretch of road many locals drive every day without a second thought.
What investigators found: Bryce was behind the handlebars of a 2014 Harley-Davidson. Megan was riding as a passenger. At some point, the motorcycle left the roadway, hit the cable barrier, and both were thrown from the bike. Neither survived.
No other vehicles were involved. Weather was not a factor. What caused the motorcycle to leave the road is still under investigation.
Both victims were transported to the Benton County Coroner’s Office. Arkansas State Police have not yet released additional details about what may have led to the crash.

Tontitown is a tight-knit city in Washington County. When two residents from the same household die in a single crash, it doesn’t stay a statistic — it becomes a neighborhood’s loss.
The McClains were not strangers on an unfamiliar road. They were locals, on a local highway, on what appeared to be a perfectly ordinary afternoon.
What Happens Next
Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. No timeline has been given for when findings will be released. The case is being handled as a fatal crash inquiry, standard procedure when no other vehicles or criminal activity are immediately identified.
