HENRY COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic crash in Henry County has now claimed the lives of two children after a 10-year-old boy who was critically injured in the collision died from his injuries on Tuesday.
The crash happened Saturday afternoon in Pleasant Township and had already taken the life of a 9-year-old boy, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, the children were passengers in an SUV driven by a 38-year-old man from Leipsic. Investigators said the SUV was traveling on County Road Y when a pickup truck entered the intersection from County Road 18 and collided with the vehicle.
Officials said the pickup truck was being driven by a 17-year-old from New Bavaria, who allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection.
The SUV driver suffered injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The teenage driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The loss of the second child has deepened the tragedy for the families involved and the surrounding community, as loved ones continue to mourn the devastating crash.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine all circumstances surrounding the collision.
