A 36-year-old woman didn’t expect her weekend trip to a Dayton park to end in a hospital bed. But that’s exactly what happened — and the man police say is responsible didn’t even bother to stop.
The incident unfolded around 4:40 p.m. Saturday at Liberation Park on Ferguson Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. According to the Dayton Police Department, a gray Dodge Journey was reversing into a grassy area when it struck the woman, who was walking directly behind the vehicle.
The driver did not stop. He did not check on the victim. He did not identify himself. He simply drove away.
Medics rushed to the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital with suspected serious injuries. Her condition has not been publicly updated.
Police wasted no time. Within about an hour of the crash, investigators tracked down and arrested 23-year-old Jak Morgan IV on Summit Square Drive. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident.

As of Monday afternoon, formal charges had not yet been filed, and the investigation remains active. It is unclear whether additional charges — such as felony hit-and-run or vehicular assault — may follow depending on the severity of the victim’s injuries.
What Happens Next: Under Ohio law, leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury can carry felony-level charges. If the victim’s condition worsens, Morgan could be facing far more than a misdemeanor. The next few days in court could be critical.
A woman went to a public park on a Saturday — and left in an ambulance. The man who drove away is now behind bars. Justice, at least for now, moved fast.
